North Cork 1720 Sails:

Mainsail (M-4)

The New M-4 mainsail for 2007 is constructed with premium grade Apen 18 Pentex (smoke film) cloth and utilizes its predecessor’s championship winning design. This design has consistently proven to be the fastest and most adaptable in the fleet across the entire wind range.

This sail has some new finishing details like our new rocket tensioner for the top batten and custom spec battens.

This sail comes complete to class rules, ready to race and win!

Genoa (G-2)

The New G-2 Genoa is constructed with premium grade Apen 18 Pentex (smoke film) cloth and is the same design as the TDG-1 which is undoubtedly the fastest and easiest to trim Jib on the market, having won every major honour in the class. Again we have custom spec battens, engineered to the exact required stiffness.

The Genoa comes complete to class rules, ready to race and win.

Jib (APJ-8)

With the recent change in class rules the small jib has become a very important sail. Also the decision to allow this sail to be made in laminates rather than Dacron has transformed it. Despite being quite small this sail needs to be “bullet-proof," as when it comes out of the bag the wind is going to be 20 knots + and the sail is in for some punishment!

We now build our Jib from Bainbridge Pentex, the sail has the draft well forward to aid steering in waves. This is a fully shaped sail and can be used quite successfully even when caught out in lighter winds.

It comes complete with battens, hanks, draft stripes and long roll bag. One thing is certain, when the sail comes out of the bag; the racing is going to be fast!

This sail has proven itself in the 2000 and 2001 seasons to be considerably faster than the old Dacron sails, a must for 2007!

Large Asymmetric Spinnaker (T-5)

The North Asymmetric is based on our extremely successful Melges 24 Sail program, except the design makes additional allowances for the restricted luff measurement controlled by the class rules. The sail is designed principally with running in mind, and allows you to sail with more 'Loaf' lower and faster! Recent sail testing has shown the North sail really comes into its own on the run, without losing out on the tight reaching legs. Careful adjustment of the tack line is vital to get the best out of this sail.

The spinnaker is built in AIRX which has an unrivaled strength to weight ratio, a zero porosity finish which means it keeps all the air in, repels water as well and is also very durable which makes it an ideal fabric for this type of application!

The T-5 is a result of continuous developement with Asymmetric sails within the North Sails group and represents the next generation in sail design!

Stable and easy to trim, you and your crew will enjoy using this sail. Comes complete and ready to race, with colour coded tapes, sail bag and custom webbing clew strap to make gybing easier.

Small Asymmetric Spinnaker (APS-8D)

As the class is now using the “Small Spinnaker Flag” more and more at major regattas we have completely re-designed this sail for windward-leeward racing in 20 Knots plus!! Based on our Melges 24 Running spinnaker this sail has proven its self time and again.

One of the factors overlooked by others is that this sail still needs to be on the minimum weight! Running when the 1720 is planning puts limited load on the spinnaker and a heavier sail just will not fly correctly. Our sail is built in a Silicon fabric and is easy to trim in extreme conditions. Fitted with larger patches for shape holding and strength in the windier conditions.

Comes complete and ready to race, with colour coded tapes, sail bag and custom webbing clew strap to make gybing easier. A must have sail for the 2005 wardrobe.
